Dirge of the Unseen explores how vacancy in Detroit creates space for quiet care and non-human life. A network of speculative micro-shelters made from salvaged domestic fragments-chimneys, stairs, tubs, and sinks-supports birds, insects, fungi, and mammals. Vines climb wooden frames, birdhouses crown fireplaces, and insect hotels nest beneath stairs. This isn't beautification-it's an acknowledgment that the most overlooked forms of life often hold cities together. The project imagines a future where care and maintenance are shared across species.
