Hi, I’m Philippe, an artist and designer born and raised in Douala, Cameroon, and currently practicing out of Ann Arbor, MI. My work spans architecture, furniture design, and other three-dimensional explorations. These pieces emerge from an interest in hands-on approaches to uncover the possibilities within methodological research and material processes.
As a student of history, I frame my practice through historical and cultural narratives; examining how they inform identity, spatial experience, and material expression. This approach, coupled to my written work, has allowed me to question inherited ideals and resist the passive acceptance of dominant frameworks, using making as a way to unlearn, critique, and rebuild meaning on my own terms.
